Before 1st visit

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, specialized dental care to all children where each patient, parent, and the dental team work together to meet each family’s needs.  We have an excellent team that works well together and care about the patients.

If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. Tell your child the dentist is a friendly doctor who will help him/her stay healthy. Talk about the visit in a positive, matter-of fact way, as you would any important new experience. A visit to the dentist should be a delightful adventure to a young child.

DO

1.Explain to the child why the dentist has to check his/her teeth:
"To have a nice smile, and be able to eat delicious, nutritious food!”
2.Let the child know in advance how easy it is going to the dentist:   "Lay down in a comfortable chair”, “use a small mirror and count your    teeth”, and “brush teeth with yummy toothpaste”!
The parents can even practice with the child at home!

3.Read a story book about the dentist to prepare the child before    visiting.

DON'T

1.Over-emphasize “pain”
2.Intimate/threaten kids by saying “needles/injections, “getting your    teeth pulled”
